On November 6, 2025, Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI would release on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The announcement came through the Rockstar Newswire and was accompanied by a statement from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick. It replaced May 26, 2026, itself a hard date set after an earlier delay.
This was the second delay for the title, not the first. Take-Two cited quality assurance and development scope both times. The full timeline lays out every date in order.
What Happened to Fall 2025
The original public target was a fall 2025 release, announced alongside Trailer 1 in December 2023. On May 2, 2025, Take-Two pushed that to May 26, 2026, an eight-month shift. Trailer 2 followed four days later. On November 6, 2025, Take-Two moved the date again, from May 26, 2026 to November 19, 2026. The May 2026 date never got tested against an actual launch.
Strauss Zelnick's statement attributed the change to the studio's commitment to quality and the scope of what Rockstar is building. He did not specify which elements of the game required additional development time. Both delays got the same explanation.

The confirmed platform lineup at launch is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S only. No PC release date has been announced. Rockstar has not released a mainline GTA title on PC simultaneously with consoles. The pattern across previous titles suggests a PC release follows the console launch by a minimum of twelve months, though no specific timeline has been given for Leonida.
No last-generation platform (PlayStation 4 or Xbox One) release has been announced or is expected. The game is being built for current-generation hardware specifications exclusively.

November 19, 2026 is a confirmed date from the publisher and developer. It is not a window, not a quarter, not a fiscal year estimate. It is a specific Tuesday in November with Leonida on the other side of it.
