What Is the Criminal Profile in GTA 6?

It tracks what kind of criminal you are, not whether you are good or evil. Rob Nelson, head of development at Rockstar North, said "there isn't a right or wrong way to play this game," but that consistent actions may have an impact on how the world reacts to you.

Mission demands and fighting back when someone starts it do not count against you. The profile shifts when you consistently go beyond what is necessary. It sits apart from the six-star wanted level.

Is it the same as the Honor system in Red Dead Redemption 2? Reported
No. Nelson said it is a different system, and separate from the relationship between Jason and Lucia. "Honor System" and "Criminal Profile" both circulated after the reveal, but the footage never names the mechanic on screen. See our Extended Look breakdown.

Does a hit and run count against me? Reported
Nelson's own example: commit a crime, run, and move on before the cops arrive, without shooting or escalating, and you are generally fine. The weight falls on consistent excess, not on one bad night.

What raises or lowers it? Unconfirmed
Guides list petting dogs, feeding strays and helping people as ways up, and killing bystanders as a way down. Rockstar has not published a list. Nelson only described the principle.

Is there a meter on screen? Unconfirmed
One guide says no, and that each character's rating sits in the stat menu. Rockstar has not shown the menu or confirmed a scale, a floor, or a way to recover. The wanted level is the only crime meter shown so far: how the wanted system works.
