Does GTA 6 Have Hurricanes and Dynamic Weather?

Yes, and it is built to be local. Owen Shepherd, Rockstar's VP of art for lighting and rendering, told Game Informer the team re-engineered the weather system to make everything "much more localized and persistent." You can stand in sun while a storm hammers the next area over.

Wet ground and puddles stay after the rain moves on, even if you arrive late. Rockstar has not said how often storms hit or whether they change missions.

Are there hurricanes? Reported
Coverage of the Game Informer story reports hurricanes, tropical storms and severe storms, with heavy cloud, strong wind, downpours, thunder and lightning. TweakTown notes Rockstar has not shown how they play out. Leonida is Florida, so the pattern fits.

Does wind do anything? Reported
Wind is modeled, not painted on. Offshore breezes after sunset, warm air rising and buildings blocking gusts are all mentioned. Gusts ripple the water and bend the swamp grass, and hair and debris swirl on rooftops.

Does weather change how cars handle? Unconfirmed
Not announced. A 2023 report claimed weather would affect driving and water physics. Nothing since then has confirmed it.

Do storms affect missions or destroy buildings? Unconfirmed
Rockstar has not said how often major storms occur, how they touch the story, or whether hurricanes damage the map. Old job listings mentioned large-scale destruction, but did not tie it to weather.
