What Rockstar and Netflix Confirmed

"Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premiered on Netflix August 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET, exclusive to Netflix members for six hours, before landing on Rockstar's official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website at 9:00 PM ET. Full background on the announcement and the Netflix deal here.

No runtime was announced ahead of time. The special ran roughly twenty-six minutes, the longest single look at the game Rockstar has put out, described only as captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, not PS5 Pro. Unlike Trailer 2, no gameplay-versus-cinematic split was stated. Watched shot by shot, the two barely separate. Cutscene dialogue runs straight into playable movement without announcing the cut.

The Stash House Raid

Jason and Lucia walk an apartment hallway, ride an elevator down, and Jason stops to pet a dog before knocking on a red door. Inside: a cooking crew working a table stacked with boxes of Grimewald milk, Ratout, and Palm & Flute, yellow dishwashing gloves, respirator masks, the room thick with haze. The man running it is called Raymond, "Ray" to his crew, shirtless, dreadlocked, two gold chains, tattoos across his chest. He is cooking for Boobie Ike, and Jason and Lucia are here to collect: "Booby sent us for a pickup."

A phone lights up mid-conversation, an incoming call marked Unknown. A voice on speaker says "Raymon, listen very closely, cabrón", a name spoken like a threat. Someone else on the line warns a task force is inbound. Seconds later, tactical police in vests marked POLICE breach the door with a shotgun. The firefight that follows runs through smoke-choked corridors and a graffitied elevator, Jason carrying a red duffel bag he later calls "Booby's bricks." The escape is out a window onto a fire ladder, into a stranger's apartment mid-argument: "What the hell are y'all doing in here?"

The Title Card, and a Morning In

The Rockstar Games card fades in, then out, before a red vintage convertible burns rubber down a highway, Jason driving, Lucia leaning out the passenger window laughing, a red bandana in her hair. UI text flashes over the car in a parking lot beforehand: SLIM JIM and SMASH WINDOW, two ways in. Green highway signs read Port Gellhorn and Ambrose / Leonard County. The Roman numeral VI fills with sky and palm silhouettes over the title card.

Then the apartment: pink counters, a fridge covered in sticky notes reading "KEEP SMILING!" and "HYDRATE, BITCH, STAY WOKEN," a zebra-print rug, confetti still on the tile floor. Jason holds out two pairs of trousers for Lucia to choose from. She holds up two dresses instead. The television plays a run of in-universe ads: an animated, anxious brain-shaped mascot for the antidepressant Angstapan, a nature-documentary parody narrating "small, magnificent, proud" over grazing elk, and a stop-motion sandwich assembling itself into The Prairie Sandwich, sold alongside Chacho's Lasso Fries and Brownstein's Root Beer. Getting ready, Jason checks Lucia's outfit and says, simply, "Damn. Worth the wait."

Cruising Vice City: A Crime Montage

The convertible pulls into traffic and the footage cuts loose into a fast-paced tour of what there is to do badly in Leonida. A street fight under neon signage. Backyard wrestling in front of a crowd on lawn chairs. A bridge dive into open water. Two masked figures rob a Gruppe 6 armored truck in broad daylight, dragging a guard across the pavement while a third climbs into the open rear doors. A shirtless man dribbles a basketball against a stilted wooden house. None of it is connected to the main thread. All of it is happening at once, in the same city, while Jason and Lucia drive somewhere else entirely.

The Effluvia Meeting

A rooftop bar overlooking the ocean, balloons and potted palms, a sign reading Effluvia in glowing pink letters (spelled at least three different ways on other signage around the same terrace, which is either an inconsistency or a running joke about a venue that can't settle on its own name). Jason and Lucia meet Brian and Lori Heder here, hugging on arrival, and the conversation intercuts with something darker: four bound captives in a dim room elsewhere, a woman with short white hair restrained at a desk, a struggle in the dark, two bodies face-down with hands zip-tied. Back on the roof, the four talk business over a patio table in broad daylight. It ends with Jason and Brian sharing cigars over the skyline, Brian doing most of the talking.

Six Robberies, Six Minutes

Masked with bandanas, Jason and Lucia run a string of convenience-store holdups back to back, starting at Hanks Waffles ("open 7 days," est. 1954). One clerk gets his head slammed into a radio. Another draws a shotgun through a hole in a glass partition. The wanted-level UI appears on screen for the first time here, a row of stars in the top right, as Jason vaults a freezer case and fires on police cruisers waiting outside. From the back seat of the getaway car, someone racks a pistol slide with both hands, sunlight blasting through the windshield.

The Chase

The rooftop conversation wraps as a plane tows a banner over the city reading "IF YOU CHASE, THEY WEEP." Raul Bautista climbs into the back seat, mustache, long hair, patterned scarf, to talk logistics on the drive. Lucia is driving. Raul asks, half-joking, if she's a professional. Her answer, subtitled on screen: "Of course." His: "Good, I need a professional."

The chase that follows is the longest single action beat in the reveal: figures leaning out windows to fire on pursuing cruisers and a low helicopter, one cop car flipping through the air, a five-star wanted meter locked in the corner. The crew ducks into a parking garage, torches the sedan with a Molotov to burn the evidence, and switches into a maroon van before running a toll plaza under a banner reading SPEED LIMIT 35, seagulls overhead like nothing happened.

The Alleyway, and Everything Else Leonida Does

The van parks in an alleyway, duffel bags unloaded, the crew splitting up on foot. The one instruction, spoken flat: "Keep your phones on." From there the footage breaks into the widest activity montage Rockstar has shown yet: airboating through swampland, cave diving past a school of stingrays, weightlifting under GAINZ-branded plates, basketball off a second-story hoop, VR gaming at home, kayaking past a downtown skyline, a strip club visit with cash thrown in the air, full circuit racing against a lap timer, a jewelry-store robbery, a gun range with a "targets remaining" counter, dirt-bike racing across a cliffside trail, and a night drive-by that ends with a police SUV flipping into a lit Ferris wheel.

One beat stands out from the rest: a man films someone's legs kicking out of a car trunk on his phone, a live chat overlay visible on screen as the car pulls into traffic, being livestreamed in real time while the actual police give chase behind it. The montage closes on a parachute jump off a high-rise, the city sprawling out below in a straight vertical drop.

Before the Party

Champagne and airport-lounge small talk. A blonde woman in a gold choker, a phone always in her hand, tells someone "a little buzz would only help you" over three more glasses. This is Petra Navarro, introduced later by name and title. The job on the table: babysit a man named Andres de Leon, "protect him, keep him in line." Night falls, private jets sit on the tarmac, and the group piles into a convoy of SUVs headed toward the city skyline.

MegaMundo: When the Job Goes Wrong

A skyscraper lit up at night, MEGAMUNDO in letters up the side, a rainbow-arch entrance and a red carpet. Inside, a corporate gala: balloons, a curved reception desk, a scale model of a building on display. A woman in a silver dress is introduced to someone off-camera by subtitle: "Es Petra Navarro, CEO de MegaMundo." Andres de Leon, cocaine-fast and grinning, ducks into a conference room to riff on "creative roadmap" ideas with two producer friends while a security guard named Gustavo confiscates Lucia's weapons at the door, an indignity she brings up more than once.

The speech starts on a staircase under a green MEGA MUNDO banner, a man in a tuxedo mid-toast to "opening our first corporate headquarters on American soil." Then gunfire. "The party is over. Everybody on the ground." The attackers aren't hired muscle, they're a coordinated unit in white hazmat suits, respirators, and safety glasses, moving floor to floor on walkie-talkie. A text from Lucia lands on screen mid-firefight: "GUYS EVERYWHERE." Then, more specific: "After Czr, he's in saferoom, 10+ guys, auto weps, explosives, sound military..." A name or codename, Czr, that the footage never explains.

Jason and Lucia get split up across the building, a stairwell sign reading FLOOR 26 as one of them fights alone through cubicles and gunfire. It ends in a stripped, under-construction floor, scaffolding and yellow safety barriers, a hand-to-hand fight that leaves an attacker on the ground before the screen cuts to black.

World Vignettes, and the Logo

The reveal closes the way it opened, wide: a rooftop pool, a boat named Lurepredator L35P anchored for a fishing trip, a recording studio session filmed through soundproof glass on someone's phone, a bar conversation over pretzels and ashtrays. A television plays a video captioned "Enjoy this dude, on your..." under narration about glory days and salad years, the voice on the outro track turning out to belong to something a character is simply watching, not Rockstar speaking over the footage. A man leans out of a small plane, foam at his mouth, shouting and waving a gun before the screen cuts to the neon Roman numeral VI and grand theft auto in white.

Six Stars, a Job Gone Wrong, and a Cast That Just Got Bigger

The six-star wanted cap is real, though this footage never shows it maxed out, the highest count visible on screen during the chase is five. Character-switching happens mid-mission with no loading transition, Jason and Lucia trading control while driving, shooting, or texting. The heist-crew structure that opens the reveal, cook house to store robberies to a corporate job, reads as one continuous arc rather than disconnected trailer beats, which suggests the campaign's early hours are built around exactly this kind of escalation.

Five names appeared in this reveal that have never been in any official Rockstar material before: Raymond, Ernesto, Andres de Leon, Petra Navarro, and Gustavo. None of it says how large their roles are beyond this one job.
