Field Assessment
The Cheetah Classic belongs to Vice City the way the neon and the art deco belongs to Vice City. The car was contemporary when Vice City was first on screen, and it carries that era into the present-day city with the patina of something that has been through several decades and kept the things worth keeping.
The Testarossa profile is unmistakeable. The side strakes running from the doors to the rear haunches, the flat nose, and the width that made the car a presence in any road it occupied. In Vice City, the Cheetah Classic does not look like an old car. It looks like the car that Vice City was built around.
The handling reflects the era. A mid-to-late eighties sports car manages its rear weight bias differently from a modern exotic. The Cheetah Classic communicates what it will do slightly after it starts doing it, which is the characteristic of cars built before stability control existed to apologize for the physics.
