Dossier
Street takeovers are the activity where car culture, social media, and criminal organization meet at an intersection at midnight and close the road. The event is simple: block the box, create the arena, drift until the police arrive or the audience disperses. The VCPD response is part of the event structure. The scatter when the sirens come is anticipated and organized.
7X is the crew most associated with this activity in Vice City. The social media documentation of takeovers is the 7X business model: the crime generates content, the content generates followers, and the followers generate the social capital that the crew operates on. The takeover and the Snapmatic post are the same event viewed from different angles.
The player can initiate or join a street takeover. Vehicle selection matters: drift-capable rear-wheel-drive vehicles score higher in the sideshow performance metric. Proximity to spectators, smoke volume, and maneuver complexity build a score that determines the outcome before the inevitable police response.
The VCPD response triggers when the event reaches a certain duration or noise level. The scatter is the conclusion: every participant disperses from the intersection in different directions simultaneously. Being the last car at the intersection is a wanted-level situation.
