Dossier

The television in Vice City is one of the more specifically crafted activities. Original programming runs on the in-world channels: fictional sitcoms, chat shows, infomercials, and the news programming that Weazel News provides. The television delivers the game's satirical commentary in a format the protagonist consumes passively.

In Leonida, the channel lineup reflects Vice City culture. Weazel News covers the state's events with its established editorial position. CNT covers the same events differently. The fictional programming adds the specific character that makes GTA TV memorable: the infomercials for products that do not exist, the chat shows discussing Vice City social dynamics.

The mechanic is the simplest activity in the game: sit near a television, interact with it, and watch. Channel selection determines content type. News channels update with events that have occurred in the player's game world. Original programming runs on a schedule.

The activity contributes to the ambient world storytelling. A protagonist who watches Weazel News after a significant event sees the event reported. The reporting version and the protagonist's experienced version of the event are often different. That gap is the comedy.

Frequently Asked

Is Weasel News watchable on TV?
Consistent with the series. Weasel News is confirmed in both trailers, a news van in the Trailer 1 chase. In-game TV channels have included Weasel News since GTA IV. Its return as a watchable channel is expected.
Can you watch social media clips on TV?
Trailer 2 Scene 58 shows a parody PS5 in a domestic interior. The same media ecosystem that produces viral social media content feeds into TV culture in Leonida.
Is there programming specific to Leonida?
Yes. GTA games have always produced original in-game TV programming. Leonida-specific content, satire, local news, infomercials, is the standard format, now in a Florida context.
