Leonida Profile
Lake Leonida is the largest fresh water body in the state's interior. The real-world Florida equivalent is Lake Okeechobee: the geographic centre of the state's water system, surrounded by fishing infrastructure and the flat agricultural land that the lake drainage supports.
The lake is large enough to be navigable by substantial watercraft and far enough from the Vice City metropolitan infrastructure that the atmosphere is genuinely different. Fishing camps, boat launches, and the lakeside economy that exists specifically because the water does.
Largemouth bass run this lake, and fishing here is one of the go-to leisure options in Leonida. People come for exactly that.
On the Ground
Open water on a lake this size has sightline implications in both directions. You can see a long way. So can anyone watching the lake. The fishing camp and boat launch infrastructure on the shore provides cover that the open water does not.
The boat is the vehicle in the lake environment. Shore access is possible but the water is the territory. Lake patrol is lighter than coastal patrol and the interior position means aerial response from Vice City takes longer.
The connection to the wider waterway system means the lake is not isolated. The rivers and channels feeding it connect to the Grassrivers wetland margin and, by extension, to the coastal access points. Water transport between the lake and the coast is slow but it is movement.
