Field Assessment
The Police Maverick is the VCPD's aerial element. When the ground pursuit loses visual on a vehicle in Vice City's complex road network, the helicopter provides the overview that the street cannot. The searchlight and the camera maintain presence above the target while the ground units reestablish contact.
The helicopter creates a new tactical problem. Escaping ground pursuit is about cover and speed. Escaping helicopter surveillance requires cover that the aerial perspective cannot penetrate: parking structures, covered roads, and the dense urban geometry that removes line of sight from above.
The Police Maverick is also the Weazel News helicopter at times when Weazel News has arrived at the same incident as the police. Both aircraft look similar from the ground. Both have the same practical effect on a Vice City pursuit situation.
