The Locust is the sports car Ocelot builds for the driver rather than the owner. The distinction matters. An ownership car is optimized for what it communicates at rest. A driver's car is optimized for what it does when moving. The Locust is light, direct, and rear-wheel drive, which means the three qualities that define a good driver's car are all present.
On Vice City's coastal road at the hour when the tourist traffic has thinned, the Locust is the choice of anyone who knows what they are doing behind the wheel and wants the car to know it too. The steering communicates. The chassis responds. The engine note at high revs is not the loudest in Vice City but it is among the more honest.
Against the German competition, the Locust loses on straight-line speed at the top of the performance range. Through the technical sections, the light weight and the direct steering recover the difference. Vice City's road network has both and the Locust is set up for the balance.
