Behavior and Threat Profile
Florida has more venomous snake species than most continental states. Leonida reflects this. The eastern diamondback rattlesnake, the cottonmouth, and the eastern coral snake are all native to the Florida analogue environment the game depicts.
The rattlesnake gives a warning. The cottonmouth is the one people call the water moccasin; it is aggressive, it does not back down the way most snakes do, and it lives near water, which in Leonida means it is everywhere near the Grassrivers margins.
The coral snake is the reverse of the other two: small, brightly coloured, slow to bite, but carrying venom that acts on the nervous system rather than the tissue. The player who dismisses it as a colourful small snake makes an expensive error.
