Hunting uses the rural Vice County and inland wilderness geography. White-tailed deer and boar are the confirmed primary targets. The Red Hill Forest and the Vice County agricultural interior are the primary zones. The Florida panther is present in the forest but is not a hunting target. The hunting activity operates within the game's animal database.
The hunting culture in rural Vice County reflects the real Florida inland: private land leases, public hunting land, and the social infrastructure of a rural activity that the coastal population largely does not engage with. The protagonist accesses hunting through the rural network rather than the Vice City tourism economy.
The mechanics manage stalking distance, wind direction, shot placement, and the animal response system. Game animals detect movement and scent before visual detection. Approach from downwind. Move slowly at close range. Shot placement determines the outcome: a clean shot produces a full-value carcass, a poor placement produces a tracking requirement.
Hunting generates resources. Carcasses have sell value at specific buyers. Venison and boar meat enter the game's resource economy. The hunting activity connects to the fencing and goods economy through the buyers who pay for game.
