Leonida Profile

Snapmatic is Vice City's social photo platform. as both a gameplay mechanic and an in-world cultural institution. The Vice City influencer economy runs on Snapmatic. The cartel money gets laundered through Snapmatic-adjacent businesses. The police use it to identify people.

The protagonist's Snapmatic account is functional in game. Photos taken in-world can be shared. The in-game feed shows what Vice City is doing and thinking and performing at any given moment. The platform is indistinguishable from its real-world inspiration except for the name and the fact that the content is occasionally more honest.

Characters in the game use Snapmatic the way real people use Instagram: to document the version of their life they want to present, to observe the version other people are presenting, and to make decisions based on the gap between both. In Vice City that gap is measurably larger than in most places.
