Behavior and Threat Profile

The roseate spoonbill is the bird that people mistake for a flamingo until they see the bill. The distinctive spatula-shaped beak is the difference. It sweeps shallow water side to side to filter small fish and crustaceans. The pink colouring comes from the carotenoids in its diet.

In Leonida it occupies the same wetland zones as the flamingo but in lower density. It is the detail that rewards players who go deep into the Grassrivers rather than staying on the main water routes.

In terms of gameplay it is ambient fauna. It reacts to disturbance with flight, like most wading birds. It does not present any threat and has no resource value. It is there because Leonida looks like Florida, and Florida has roseate spoonbills.
