Gustavo works the door at the MegaMundo headquarters opening, part of the security operation Petra Navarro has running for the event. His job is screening: everyone who comes through gets checked, no carve-outs for who they're there to protect.
That policy catches Lucia on the way in. She's on the hired security detail for the night, brought in specifically to protect Andres de Leon, and Gustavo takes her guns at the door anyway. It's a small, dryly comic beat before the night turns serious: the security is unarmed by the security, right before the building comes under attack.
Beyond the door and the confiscation, Gustavo's role in the scene is limited. He's a working part of MegaMundo's event operation, not a central figure in what follows once the shooting starts.
