Behavior and Threat Profile

The Burmese python gets the press as the invasive species problem in Florida-analogue Leonida, but the wild boar was doing damage before the python arrived. They breed fast, they eat everything, and they are not afraid of most of what shares the terrain with them.

A charging boar is heavier than it looks and faster than the mass suggests. At close range the tusks cause significant damage. The charge is direct and committed. Once committed, it does not stop because someone raised a weapon.

On the road at night, boar are a vehicle hazard before they are a combat encounter. They do not get out of the way. They stand in the road and the vehicle either stops or the vehicle and the boar both have a bad outcome.
